History
The Forest Hill Swim Club opened in 1954 as a members-only swim club for residents of the Forest Hill sub-division, which straddles the border of Cleveland Heights and East Cleveland. The Club came about due to the efforts of six families who lived in the neighborhood at the time – Cornell, Collinson, Harley, Schweitzer, Sotak, and Scott. These founding members paid for the initial architectural plans and convinced development owner, George A. Roose, to donate the original parcel of land. The Club quickly gained the 300 member families required to cover construction costs and broke ground in March of 1954, and the pool officially opened on August 8, 1954. Within a few years the Club purchased adjoining property and expanded to include the picnic area and parking lot as we know it today. The pool was enlarged some years later, and we are still swimming in the original pool today. The guard office and bathhouse were also part of the original facility.
Management
The Forest Hill Swim Club is governed by an elected Board of Directors that oversees the finances, member recruitment, maintenance, and repairs for the facility. Each Board member serves a term of three years, and is permitted to serve as many consecutive terms as they are able. The Club employs a paid, full-time Pool Manager, who manages the lifeguard staff and daily operations of the pool and grounds. Additionally, members often contribute labor for spring clean-up, donate plants and flowers for landscaping, and provide various supplies and equipment throughout the year. Members are also actively involved in reaching out to new families to help continue the summer tradition of quiet relaxation at Forest Hill. We are proud to have a very involved and active membership base.
Guest Policy
Guests are only permitted with a paid guest pass, which
can be purchased at the guard office, by Venmo or PayPal. Before being admitted into the pool, all guests will be required to sign in at the office with their Member Host.
There they will be required to present their paid guest pass, and children will get a wrist band which must be worn.
Guests are limited to a maximum of 5 visits per season.
